Well mate, some people just like to reblog art that they like without the heavy self-promotion text from the artist, because in this day and age blacklisting words like patreon, commission, donate and such is becoming increasingly common, just like adblock did. We get that’s how you make a living, but no one, NO ONE likes ads, and in tumblr constantly sharing that has become the new ads.

This mentality needs to be addressed.

We get that’s how you make a living.” If that is universally understood, then why take that way of living away from an artist? It takes no effort to leave the text in place.

Even if the reblogger cannot or does not want to support the artist financially, they can boost it to someone who can or does want to support the artist.

I understand it can be tiresome to be bombarded by “self-promotion.” Please understand that some artists NEED to self-promote their work, because their art is their only source of income. For many artists, art is not a hobby. Art is how they pay bills, buy groceries, cover insurances, and other necessities.

If self-promotion becomes too bothersome to handle, then unfollow that artist. Please do not hurt their chances of making income by deleting links to Society6, Patreon, etc when reblogifying their artwork.

Is keeping a blog aesthetic more important than the needs of a fellow human being?

also deleting any kind of commentary is just ruuuude af

like the commentary can sometimes help explain the piece and its process and deleting the comments can take away context, and by extent, understanding and enjoyability??? it’s just common decency to respect what people have to say about their work

I’m an artist who’s only income is what I make each month by commission. It’s irritating and financially crippling when people reblog or repost my work without a way to get back to my main page.

So yeah, do not do this. Do not ever do this to an artist. People can and have been reported for misattribution, so it’s just overall not a good idea.

…brb, going to support a few Patreons, now.

These aren’t my tweets, but I saw this and thought it could be helpful. ✨Girl Power✨

These are amazing. Also, if grabbed from behind, the back of your skull is much stronger than someone’s nose. Break it. Slam that shit together and run.

Any self defense advice is very situational and should be taken with significant training and a grain of salt.

THAT SAID, these are a lot of tricks I was taught myself in martial arts, and our instructors included police officers, a guy who survived a knife fight, and generally people of many different body types from six-feet tall guys to five-feet tall women. They’re quick, take advantage of physical realities of the body rather than “rapist behaviors”, and they rightly prioritize running the fuck away.

So definitely keep these tips in mind if you can.

I wish more people got this because some ‘low-empathy’ people are the most compassionate and sympathetic in the universe, and I hate it when that’s taken to mean ‘unfeeling and probably hostile’ when nothing could be further from the truth

Or, as my dad put it,

Sympathy: I know how you feel
Empathy: I feel how you feel
Compassion: is there anything I can do to help?
