Undertale: a summary
Monthly Archives: October 2015
I have been doodling a lot of Gaster lately. Aaaahhhhhh I love drawing creepy monsters as big softies.
Yeah. You know what?
Romance novel can wait until another time.
I think this month might finally finally be the month where I put Infinite to bed.
I followed some undertale rp blogs but I guess I. forgot how much I don’t like how rping is formatted on here. really I just wish they were in-character blogs and they’d just reblog/post things they would like. any way I miss lj rping
If you ever get back into Dreamwidth RP, I recently made a journal for Sans and Papyrus.
Just as a head’s up in case people see it!
There is no need to ever hesitate before adding your thoughts to mine if you see a meta post of mine that gives you something to add!
I love writing meta and I love the idea that I might have inspired someone else to write some, too. ❤ So rest assured, I definitely want to read your thoughts!
(Seriously, the Undertale fandom has such wonderful essays and meta and thoughts. The last fandom that really got me going on symbolism and themes and such was Agent of Asgard.)
I find it really funny that in a No Mercy run that Papyrus’ description reads “Forgettable” because if there’s one character the game won’t allow you to forget,
it’s Papyrus.
Undyne’s reaction especially fucks me up.
Because it’s the one case where she drops her stance of being a dramatic hero, and you can tell she’s legitimately wounded and upset in a very personal way, distinct from her anger over even the death of the dogs. If Papyrus dies, she’s not facing you as the Underground’s greatest hero. She’s facing you as a grieving friend. The entire scene becomes a very businesslike matter of “I’m going to kill you now.” “NGAAHHH” doesn’t even play, if I recall correctly.
(And she also knows something’s wrong because no matter when you call Papyrus on the phone, he always picks up within the first two rings. ;-; )
‘Sans weird murder line actually tells us a lot’ theory
Ever since I saw the restaurant scene, I had thought that Sans randomly telling us that had he not spoken to Toriel beforehand he would have killed us was weirdly out of character. After all, Sans is a lot of things, but a dude who kills random child passerbys isn’t one of them.
Now I just realized that the entire point to Sans telling us the story of his promise to Toriel was to explain that had Toriel not asked him to try and guide us down the right road, Sans would have done his ‘murder them until they quit in frustration’ tactic right at the very beginning of the game, rather then the end. Gameplay wise, this realization isn’t THAT important, because Sans can’t stop a player determined to get through him, so the game would have gone on roughly the same after that, but it’s VERY important as far as his characterization goes.
Hear me out.
Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokémon. It changes into the forms of others to surprise them. Apparently, it often transforms into a silent child.
Happy Halloween everyone!
I declare selfcare-saturday.
Go forth, do the things you like, whatever is good for you.
